Overview
Registered Nurse, Med Surg – Travel assignment in Hilo, Hawaii. Start date: 08/24/2026. Duration: 13 weeks. Weekly pay: 1,851–1,883 per week. Shift: Nights. Setting: Hospital. This assignment involves a 13-week contract with scheduled 36 hours per week after the first full week of orientation; shifts may vary and there is no guaranteed minimum beyond the scheduled hours. Active Hawaii RN license required by start date; if not currently licensed, applicants must apply upon acceptance of offer. Flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required prior to contract start (vaccination can be completed during health clearance). Orientation is provided for each unit.

Responsibilities
- Provide direct, compassionate nursing care to adult medical-surgical patients
- Monitor patient status, perform assessments, administer medications and therapies per orders, and document in the electronic medical record
- Utilize the facility’s workflow tools (e.g., EMR such as Meditech) and pharmacy systems (e.g., Pyxis) to support safe medication administration
- Manage care for patients requiring wound vac therapy and chest tube care as part of the broader medical-surgical team
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary staff and participate in patient and family education, discharge planning, and transition of care
- Respond to clinical changes and emergencies with appropriate assessment, intervention, and escalation as needed
Requirements
- Hawaii licensed registered nurse in good standing; active license required by start date (must apply upon offer if not currently licensed)
- BLS and ACLS certification required
- 2–10 years of medical-surgical nursing experience
- Education: Associate or Bachelor degree in nursing (RN)
- Ability to work nights in a hospital setting and to float to adjacent units as needed
- Proof of flu vaccination or approved exemption required prior to contract start; vaccination can be completed during employee health clearance
