Overview
Registered Nurse - Med Surg Stroke Stepdown – Utica, NY. Travel assignment starting 06/15/2026 for 13 weeks with guaranteed 36 hours per week and a 2x3 Night shift schedule. This role is in a hospital setting, on a 64-bed Med/Surg Stroke Stepdown unit, requiring floating as needed. Weekly pay ranges from $2,142 to $2,231. This is a travel - temporary assignment managed by Healthforce Healthcare LLC.

Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care for adult Med/Surg stroke stepdown patients, including regular neuro checks and vital sign monitoring; implement and adjust care plans per physician orders.
- Administer medications, manage IV therapies and IV pumps, and handle enteral feeding tubes as needed; monitor for adverse reactions.
- Perform comprehensive nursing assessments and document findings in the EPIC EMR; communicate changes with the multidisciplinary team.
- Monitor for stroke-related complications and comorbid conditions (e.g., altered mental status, renal issues, COPD, CHF, pneumonia) and respond promptly to changes.
- Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and support staff to coordinate care, facilitate safe transfers and discharges, and uphold isolation and infection control protocols.

Requirements
- Active New York RN license with NURSYS verification; current and unrestricted.
- BLS certification (AHA) and NIHSS certification; NIHSS is required for this unit and can be obtained prior to start.
- 2+ years of Med/Surg experience with stroke stepdown experience; travel experience required.
- EPIC EMR experience.
- Ability to work the night shift (2x3 schedule) and float to other MS units as needed.
- RTO (time off) requests must be included at the time of submission.
