Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care for obstetric patients in labor, delivery, and postpartum units, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care
- Monitor fetal status, perform fetal heart rate monitoring, and respond to intra-partum changes per policy and physician orders
- Administer medications, assist with labor, delivery, cesarean procedures, and postpartum care as needed
- Collaborate with physicians, midwives, and the health care team to coordinate patient care and discharge planning
- Document accurately in the electronic medical record and ensure adherence to Standards of Nursing Practice and regulatory requirements
- Maintain required certifications and participate in ongoing education, including AWHONN fetal monitoring training as specified for experienced and novice staff
Requirements
- California RN license (active)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification within 6 months of hire
- AWHONN Advanced Fetal Monitoring certification required on hire and every two years for experienced nurses; Novice/new to L&D RN will complete AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Heart Monitoring course during first 6–8 months of orientation, followed by Advanced Fetal Monitoring every two years
- Minimum two years of recent acute care RN experience; obstetric/L&D experience preferred; LDRP model experience preferred
- Ability to work the listed 3x12-hour night shift schedule (7:00 PM–7:30 AM) in a high-acuity obstetric setting
- Current California RN license and ability to meet facility-specific licensure/certification requirements
