Setting: Inpatient obstetric care unit focusing on antepartum/antenatal and postpartum/postnatal care; gynecology excluded and labor/delivery not part of this unit.

Responsibilities
- Deliver coordinated nursing care for a patient group in the obstetric unit according to established standards and the nursing process.
- Supervise and direct activities of various levels of nursing staff; coordinate care with other disciplines.
- Exercise critical thinking and independent judgment in daily patient care decisions.
- Care for antepartum/antenatal and postpartum/postnatal maternity patients and normal newborns; gynecology patients are excluded and this unit does not include labor and delivery.
- Document assessments, interventions, and patient progress; communicate with the care team and families; participate in discharge planning as appropriate.

Requirements
- Active California registered nurse license
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Experience in obstetric/maternity care preferred; candidates with strong obstetric skills are encouraged to apply
- Graduation from an approved nursing program
- Ability to work 3x12-hour night shifts in an inpatient setting
- Effective communication and teamwork in a high-acuity obstetric environment
