Responsibilities
- Lead surveillance, analysis, interpretation, and reporting of healthcare-associated infections (HAIs); monitor reportable conditions and ensure timely CMS/NHSN reporting.
- Develop, implement, and maintain infection prevention and control policies and procedures aligned with CDC, OSHA, CMS, TJC, APIC guidelines.
- Collect and trend infection data; prepare statistical reports and support performance improvement, risk management, and related initiatives.
- Educate staff, patients, and visitors on infection prevention; provide new-employee IPC orientation and ongoing training across sites.
- Collaborate with the Performance Improvement team; co-chair the IPC committee; participate in cross-training and travel to sites as needed.
- Respond to outbreaks or outbreaks-like events; assist in planning and implementing containment and mitigation strategies; perform risk assessments as required.
Requirements
- Certification in Infection Control (CIC) required
- Basic Life Support (BLS) current
- Bachelor’s degree in a healthcare-related field; Master’s degree preferred
- Minimum 3 years of acute care infection control experience and/or data collection and performance improvement/risk management experience
- Experience with basic statistics and epidemiological principles
- Ability to travel to multiple sites within the health system and work effectively in a hospital environment
