Registered Nurse First Assistant (RNFA) – Perioperative Services needed for a travel assignment in Templeton, California. Start date: 08/17/2026. Duration: 8 weeks. Responsibilities
- Provide RNFA scope of practice during operative cases under the guidance of the surgeon, assisting with exposure, tissue handling, hemostasis, and wound closure.
- Maintain strict sterile technique, instrument counts, and aseptic standards; ensure proper setup and readiness of all surgical supplies and equipment.
- Support patient positioning, operative field exposure, suction, retractors, and other intraoperative tasks to optimize safety and efficiency.
- Monitor patient status intraoperatively, collaborate closely with anesthesia and circulating staff to respond to any changes in patient condition.
- Document intraoperative care, implants, implants placement, and perioperative events in the electronic medical record (Epic) with accuracy and timeliness.
- Ensure compliance with safety, infection prevention, regulatory requirements, and hospital policies throughout the perioperative process.
Requirements
- Active RN license required (state-specific licensure or equivalent as applicable to practice location).
- RNFA certification or perioperative nursing experience with demonstrated competency in intraoperative care preferred.
- Perioperative or surgical services experience strongly preferred.
- Proficiency with electronic medical records, with Epic experience preferred.
- Ability to work 8-hour rotating shifts and participate in a travel assignment as described.
