Responsibilities
- Coordinate and perform a broad range of nursing care procedures for patients of all ages in the ED, following provider orders and standards of care.
- Conduct comprehensive nursing assessments, develop and implement care plans, monitor patient responses, and adjust care as needed.
- Administer medications and therapies, monitor for adverse reactions, and document treatments accurately.
- Transcribe physician orders, coordinate with physicians and interdisciplinary team, and facilitate patient flow and throughput.
- Provide patient and family education, discharge planning, and referrals as appropriate; ensure continuity of care through accurate handoffs and documentation.
- Supervise and delegate tasks to CNAs/techs, maintain infection control practices, and respond promptly to emergencies with sound clinical judgment.
Requirements
- Valid, current, unrestricted RN license in the State of Alaska; must be current at time of submission.
- Must have/obtain influenza vaccination prior to employment.
- BLS and PALS required upon hire; ACLS must be obtained within 6 months of hire date.
- Minimum 1 year of clinical nursing experience; prior ER/specialty area experience preferred.
- Education: Diploma, ADN, or BSN from an accredited program; licensure to practice as an RN in Alaska.
- Ability to work in a hospital emergency department setting with rotating shifts; strong assessment, critical thinking, and communication skills.
- Must reside at least 50 miles away from the assignment facility address.
