Responsibilities
- Provide scrub and circulating RN coverage for cardiovascular and thoracic procedures, including CABG and valve surgeries, in a level 1 trauma center environment.
- Prepare and maintain the sterile field, select and arrange instruments, manage equipment and supplies, and ensure accurate intraoperative counts.
- Monitor patient status during procedures, assist anesthesia as needed, and support hemodynamic monitoring and patient safety throughout the case.
- Communicate clearly with the surgical team, anticipate needs, document intraoperative events, and adhere to infection control and safety protocols.
- Support room turnover, equipment maintenance, and readiness for subsequent cases; assist with specimen handling and labeling as required.
- Floating: may be assigned to Bell OR, Cambridge OR, or SPD per unit needs.
Requirements
- Active RN license in Kansas and BLS certification.
- Minimum 2 years of CVOR experience in a level 1 trauma center.
- Certification requirements: KS RN License, BLS.
- Credentialing expectations: CBC, DS, and lab work must be completed within 72 hours of offer acceptance.
- Ability to perform scrub and circulating duties in CVOR and to float to other related OR areas as needed.
- Weekend rotation required and on-call responsibilities: up to 1 weekend per month with potential holiday call backs; 2-hour minimum call back.
- Credentialing and orientation timing: orientation is typically scheduled to begin within the assignment window; new employee orientation details provided during onboarding.
