Responsibilities
- Verify patient identity and review physician orders prior to imaging
- Use radiographic equipment to acquire high-quality images of bones, tissues, and organs per orders
- Explain procedures to patients and address questions; assist with positioning, including lifting/moving patients as needed
- Maintain patient safety by minimizing radiation dose and following ALARA principles
- Observe patient status and provide age-appropriate care and communication
- Produce diagnostic-quality images for radiologist interpretation; ensure proper documentation and PACS posting
- Report damaged or malfunctioning x-ray equipment to management promptly
- Use electronic patient information systems to verify patient data, exam type, and any special comments; adhere to dual patient identifier procedures
- Ensure accurate image identification and proper transmission to the PACS
Requirements
- Completion of formal training at an approved School of Radiologic Technology; ARRT certification
- New York State license (or eligible to obtain before starting)
- Minimum 2 years of X-Ray Technologist experience
- Level 1 trauma center experience
- Ability to move and lift patients; ability to stand for extended periods
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills; patient-focused and team-oriented
- Must be able to report within 30 minutes for on-call shifts
- BLS certification (American Heart Association)
- Experience using C-arm/O-arm within the past 8 months
- Recent OR experience required
