Responsibilities
- Assist licensed physical therapists in delivering prescribed therapies, including therapeutic exercises, gait training, ROM work, and functional mobility tasks.
- Monitor patient progress, document sessions, and communicate changes in status to the supervising PT and care team.
- Prepare treatment spaces and equipment, maintain safety and infection control, and ensure proper sanitation of devices and tools.
- Collaborate with rehabilitation staff, nursing, and other clinicians to coordinate care and support discharge planning.
- Educate patients and families on home exercise programs, safety, and strategies to maintain gains after discharge.
- Maintain accurate charting and comply with privacy, documentation, and regulatory requirements.
Requirements
- Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Workers
- Licenses: Valid Driver’s License
- Experience: Three (3) years of work experience as an Activities Coordinator involving planning and coordinating comprehensive programs (as described in the Job Notes) to meet social, recreational, physical, educational, and other patient needs
- Language/communication: Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English; effective communication with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams
- Additional knowledge: Familiarity with human anatomy; administrative practices and procedures related to directing activity programs; budgeting basics; supervision and training of staff
- Work readiness: Ability to work in a hospital setting and to be flexible with shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
