Responsibilities
- Meet patient goals and deliver quality OT care by assessing and interpreting evaluations and test results; develop treatment plans in consultation with physicians or by prescription.
- Implement therapy programs to restore or improve physical and mental function, including activities of daily living, prevocational and vocational tasks, homemaking skills, sensorimotor activities, and supervision of aides and assistants.
- Promote maximum independence by tailoring therapies to each patient’s physical capacity, intelligence level, and interests.
- Prepare patients for return-to-work by consulting with employers, identifying barriers, retraining, and advising on necessary accommodations.
- Evaluate patient progress, document outcomes, adjust plans as needed, and participate in discharge planning with the care team.
- Ensure continuation of therapy after discharge by educating patients, families, and caregivers in home exercise programs and recommending outpatient or home health follow-up.
Requirements
- Current Occupational Therapy License issued by the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies
- Valid NBCOT Certification (OTR)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) required
- Previous acute care/hospital experience preferred
- Ability to work effectively in a hospital setting and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team
- Knowledge of occupational therapy principles, evaluation and treatment methods, and patient education
