Job Description

The SC Float Occupational Therapist is a clinically competent, licensed, professional who assumes responsibility and accountability for a group of residents/patients through the process of evaluation, ongoing assessment, planning, and implementation of therapy interventions. This role interacts effectively and professionally with residents/patients, family members, responsible parties and other health care team members, while maintaining the highest standards of professional conduct. This position must comply with regulatory standards by the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA), the Department of Health, and any other applicable professional guidelines and regulatory requirements. Practice settings may include skilled nursing facilities, sub-acute care, outpatient care, home health, and other contracted facilities. The SC Float Occupational Therapist position is responsible for providing therapy services at Benedictine communities as needed. This position may require travel to multiple sites within a single day, or assignment to a specific site for extended coverage lasting several weeks, including potential out-of-state assignments, based on organizational needs. The SC Float Occupational Therapist may assist with the orientation of new occupational therapists and, when requested, support the regional management team in establishing therapy services during new community acquisitions.

Responsibilities

  • Performs initial assessment on residents/patients and re-assessments as per MD order and within department policy.
  • Develops and revises plan of care as indicated by resident diagnosis, physical and cognitive status, functional goals/outcomes, and discharge plan.
  • Plans for and provides resident, family and caregiver education, identifies learning needs, clearly communicates information, and documents response to education provided.
  • Plans for resident discharge, anticipates long term and short-term resident needs, collaborates with interdisciplinary teams, and assesses resident prior to discharge as needed.
  • Travels to various Benedictine communities, as needed, to provide treatment to residents.
  • Promotes the Benedictine Mission and Core Values of Hospitality, Stewardship, Respect and Justice by bringing the Mission and Core Values into the day-to-day activities of the company.
  • Performs other duties, tasks and/or projects as assigned.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

  • Current state licensure in Occupational Therapy which must be in good standing

QUALIFICATIONS PREFERRED

  • One (1) or more years of experience in long term care

Salary Range

$48-$55 per hour
