Job Description

UMIAQ Environmental is seeking a Temporary Travel Coordinator to join our team in Anchorage. In this role, you will be responsible for the efficient and timely coordination of travel for personnel supporting projects across Alaska. You will plan, organize, and manage travel logistics for staff working in both remote and urban locations, ensuring seamless execution of travel arrangements in a dynamic and often complex operating environment.

The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities under tight timelines. This position requires strong coordination skills, clear communication, and the ability to adapt to changing schedules, weather conditions, and project needs.

Responsibilities

Essential functions will include:

  • Coordinate and book travel for field and project personnel, including commercial flights, charter flights, lodging, and ground transportation.
  • Support Project Managers and Coordinators with rotational schedules and align travel logistics with project staffing requirements.
  • Communicate travel plans and updates clearly with employees, project managers, and vendors.
  • Track travel costs and support adherence to project budgets.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve travel disruptions in real time.
  • Maintain accurate travel records, itineraries, and documentation.
  • Support logistics coordination for remote site access as needed.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 1–3 years of experience in travel coordination, logistics, or administrative support in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly learn systems and processes and contribute with minimal training.
  • Experience coordinating travel arrangements, including flights, lodging, and ground transportation.
  • Organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and short-term deadlines.
  • Ability to adapt to changing schedules, weather delays, and evolving project needs.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Teams) and general booking platforms.
  • Communication skills and ability to coordinate effectively with staff and vendors.
  • Prior experience supporting short-term or seasonal projects.
  • Familiarity with Alaska travel logistics or remote site coordination.
  • Experience managing last-minute travel changes or high-volume scheduling needs.
  • Availability to start immediately and commit for the full duration of the temporary assignment.

Physical and Mental Demands:

  • Frequent walking, standing, twisting & turning upper body, safe distant and good near vision, and good hearing.

  • Occasionally lifting and carrying of equipment or materials weighing up to 50 pounds.

  • Occasionally pushing and pulling equipment or materials up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work in outdoor environments, including uneven terrain and varying weather conditions.

  • Visual acuity and manual dexterity required for data collection, equipment use, and documentation.

  • Mental focus and alertness needed to follow safety procedures and accurately complete field tasks.

  • Ability to work long hours in remote field locations as required by project needs.

Working Conditions:

  • Walking on slippery and uneven surfaces.

  • Ability to walk up and down stairs.
  • Comfortable working alone or independently.
