Job Description
Within the context of a client and family centred care model and in accordance with established vision and values of the organization, works as a member of an integrated team and plays a significant role in ensuring that clients have a positive experience with the designated service within a fast paced, high volume clinic environment. Functions include administrative support, scheduling and confirming client appointments, greeting clients and visitors, inputting client information into computerized client information systems, typing technical and non-technical material, composing and signing correspondence and responding to general inquiries related to the Travel Clinic. Assists the community/public health nurse and other team members in the organization and operation of immunization clinics.
QUALIFICATIONS:Education & Experience Grade 12, a Medical Office Assistant Certificate supplemented by one (1) year recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.Valid BC Driver’s license and access to a personal vehicle for business related purposes, as required.Knowledge, Skills & AbilitiesKnowledge of office practices and procedures.Knowledge and proficiency in relevant software. (Word, Excel, graphic applications)Ability to keyboard 5,000 keystrokes per hour.Medical Terminology.Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.Ability to work independently and effectively with others.Ability to be sensitive, tactful and diplomatic with clients and the public.Ability to organize and prioritize work and deal effectively with changing priorities.Ability to compile information.Ability to perform relevant calculations.Ability to operate related equipment.Physical ability to carry out the duties of the positionThe hours of work including days off and work area may be subject to change consistent with operational requirements and the provision of the Collective Agreement and applicable statutes.
