Responsibilities
- Deliver occupational therapy services to adults within a corrections setting under OT supervision and BOC scope.
- Implement therapy plans and evidence-based interventions to improve ADLs, fine motor skills, coordination, dexterity, and cognitive-motor tasks.
- Assess patient needs and contribute to initial evaluations and ongoing progress notes; document outcomes in the electronic health record per facility policy.
- Adapt activities for safety, accessibility, and independence; use assistive devices, splints, and adaptive equipment as appropriate.
- Monitor patient safety, hygiene, infection control, and adherence to safety protocols; communicate deviations or concerns to the OT team.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to coordinate care, share progress, and update treatment plans; participate in case conferences as required.
Requirements
- Active North Carolina Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant license or eligibility to obtain prior to start date
- NBCOT certification as a COTA or eligibility for certification/recertification
- Associate degree in Occupational Therapy Assistant from an accredited program
- Ability to work effectively in a corrections setting and comply with security and safety policies
- Proficiency with documentation and electronic medical records; clear communication skills
- Minimum readiness to start by the stated start date and commit to the 13-week assignment
