Responsibilities
- Set up ultrasound equipment and prepare patients for echocardiography, including attaching leads and applying gels
- Create and optimize images of the heart, chambers, valves and vessels to assess function and diagnose conditions
- Perform echocardiographic exams including transthoracic studies and treadmill/stress echocardiography as indicated
- Review patient records, interview patients, adapt imaging techniques, and collaborate with cardiologists on findings
- Maintain equipment, manage inventories, restock supplies, and ensure accurate data entry in the appropriate systems
- Provide patient care and instruction, protect patient confidentiality, and uphold safety and infection control standards
Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent
- Licenses/Certifications: Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) or Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) required; Echocardiography certification preferred; Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
- Experience: At least two years of recent experience in the field
- Licensure: Current nursing license as required by the state of assignment
- Other: Ability to work in a short-term acute care hospital environment; eligible to work in the United States
