Job Description

Position: Resident Transporter 1-5

Supervisor: DON/Nursing Dept Supervisor, Transport Dept Team Lead, President of Residential Services

Position Qualifications:

  • High School Education or equivalent (Degree Preferred)
  • Valid Driver’s License and must maintain less than 6 points on driving record.
  • Six months prior experience working with target population preferred.
  • Successful completion of all required criminal background checks.
    • Background checks including but not limited to FBI, BCI, ARCS, SACWIS/ Alleged Perpetrator Search, & National Sex Offender Registry Search
    • An individual is not eligible for employment if either of the following is true:
      • The individual’s alleged perpetrator results show a finding of substantiated abuse or neglect within the past ten years.
      • The individual is listed on the national sex offender public website.
  • Adult & Child CPR/First Aid and SCM Certified
  • Interact in a pleasant and professional manner with other employees, physicians, providers, agencies, residents, and resident’s families to promote a team effort through cooperation and respect for fellow employees.
  • Carrying/lifting/transferring (min 50 lb.), stooping, kneeling, squatting, reaching, standing, walking and repetitive activity. Performing physical interventions.
  • Ability to see, hear, feel, verbalize, and communicate effectively.
  • May be exposed to fumes/odors, body fluids/blood/tissue.
  • May be required to adhere to resident safety coverage policy, including but not limited to working in ratio with the clients.
  • Maintain annual TB tests, required paperwork and background screenings as required by licensing agency.
  • Complete required hours of orientation training and any other training required by rules and regulations, which will include SCM training. Skill Builders will be required to pass the SCM written test as well as the physical test and attend twelve hours of annual ongoing refresher training along with passing the physical and written exams annually.

Position Requirements:

  • Provide transportation services for residents to doctor appointments, therapy visits, home visits, court hearings, recreation, off-campus activities, etc, and provide direct supervision; ensure safety and security of residents at all times during transport and off-campus activities.
  • Assist in therapeutic interventions with residents.
  • Monitor whereabouts of residents at all times, assists in maintaining order when residents are in the care of transporter.
  • Attend all mandatory trainings and operational meetings, as directed.
  • Serve on various committees for purposes of Performance Quality Improvement.
  • Understand and follow all aspects of agency policies regarding the Transporting of Residents.
  • Drive within the law, observing speed limits and all other traffic directives, including proper use of seat belts and assuring the proper use of seat belts by residents.
  • Complete proper paperwork for transport, maintaining receipts for costs incurred during transport services, and timely submission of paperwork and receipts to Administration.
  • Conducts inspections of vehicles prior to transport and in accordance with policy and procedures. Files written report of damage to vehicle and / or need for service or maintenance, to supervisor, per company policy and procedures.
  • Wears appropriate attire based on duties for the day
  • Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director of Residential Services, DON/Nursing Dept Supervisor, and/or Transport Dept Team Lead.
