The Transportation Worker 2 Equipment Operator will report to the Ritchie County Maintenance Headquarters. This position, under general supervision, performs full-performance level skilled work in the construction and maintenance of highways. Duties include: operating motorized highway maintenance equipment such as skid steer, utility tractor, aerial bucket truck, front-end loader, tandem-axle truck, and snowplow. Making major repairs to highways, culverts, and bridge structures. Making minor mechanical repairs in the field such as changing tires, blades, or filters. Responsible for equipment maintenance including but not limited to cleaning and lubricating equipment and checking fluid levels. Flagging, erecting traffic control signs and barricades on construction and maintenance projects, shoveling materials, cleaning culverts, mowing, and brush cutting. May be exposed to hazardous working conditions and inclement weather. Performs other related duties as required.
• Knowledge of the procedures, techniques, and equipment used in the area of assignment.

• Ability to climb high steel structures.
• Ability to operate and maintain highway equipment and attachments.
• Ability to diagnose less complex mechanical problems and follow appropriate procedures for repair.
• Ability to maintain routine records (timecards, work repair orders).
• Ability to use hand tools and operate motorized equipment in the area of assignment.
• Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
• Ability to train and work cooperatively with other skilled and semi-skilled workers.
REQUIRED TRAINING/EDUCATION No formal education required.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
Equipment Operator Required Experience A valid Class A or Class B Commercial Driver’s License is required.
No Substitutions for the Equipment Operator CDL requirement.
