Transportation Specialist I, II or III with Dallas Managed Lanes - (2602662)

Position Information This position offers a unique opportunity to play a key role in the day-to-day operations of the Managed Lane corridors while working collaboratively with both agency and contract staff. The successful candidate will help ensure projects and maintenance activities are delivered efficiently, coordinate with a diverse group of stakeholders, and oversee the timely processing of contractor payments. This role combines leadership, operational oversight, and teamwork in a fast-paced transportation environment. The Texas Department of Transportation reserves to sole right in determining to level of position based on the applicants' work experience, education, skill level and all other appropriate factors, and based on business needs.

Description

Provides technical expertise and coordination for transportation programs involving design, building construction projects, construction of transportation systems, traffic operations, maintenance of highways and facilities, or bridge inspection and appraisal in accordance with Department standards. Prepares estimates, processes damage claims, works closely with the Managed Lanes contractors, performs record keeping activities, and provides Managed Lanes opening and closing schedules. Work requires contact with governmental officials, consultants, contractors and private entities. Employees at this level perform work independently on assignments; however, all unusual issues are referred to the supervisor.Essential Duties for a Transportation Specialist I, II and III:Assists in prioritizing and scheduling projects.Ensures compliance with specifications for devices; safety laws, rules, and regulations; and the Texas Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices.Monitors contracting, construction record-keeping and construction records auditing activities for multiple construction projects.Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.Additional Duties for a Transportation Specialist II and III:Develops and monitors budgets.Inspects roadways and evaluates road conditions.Performs data collection, evaluations, analyses, studies, inspections, forecasts, assessments, and/or plan development.Represents the Department at various meetings.Additional Duties for a Transportation Specialist III:Assists in overseeing project assignments and determining work requirements to complete project plans and coordinates scheduling to accommodate projects already underway.Assists in planning, developing, administering and monitoring district maintenance contracts and service agreements.

Minimum Qualifications:Transportation Specialist I:Education: Bachelor's Degree in a related discipline. Relevant experience may be substituted for education on a year per year basis. Substitutions for Minimum QualificationsExperience: 2 years transportation design, construction, traffic operations, maintenance, bridge inspection experience. (Experience can be satisfied by full time or prorated part time equivalent). Transportation Specialist II:Education: Bachelor's Degree in a related discipline. Relevant experience may be substituted for education on a year per year basis. Substitutions for Minimum QualificationsExperience: 4 years transportation design, construction, traffic operations, maintenance, bridge inspection experience. (Experience can be satisfied by full time or prorated part time equivalent). Transportation Specialist III:Education: Bachelor's Degree in a related discipline. Relevant experience may be substituted for education on a year per year basis. Substitutions for Minimum QualificationsExperience: 5 years transportation design, construction, traffic operations, maintenance, bridge inspection experience. (Experience can be satisfied by full time or prorated part time equivalent). Licenses and Certifications for a Transportation Specialist I, II and III: Valid driver’s license. This position requires driving a state vehicle.
