Johnson County Mental Health Center Transportation Services Team is looking to fill the position of Transportation Services Coordinator The transportation services team employs clients to serve as drivers who provide rides to mental health clients, helping them get to work, school and medical appointments. The program is in operation 5:30am - 10:30pm year-round excluding Thanksgiving & Christmas Day with the goal of helping clients successfully maintain school and work commitments to ultimately achieve independence.

Shift available for this position:

  • Monday through Friday, 7:30am-4:30pm

Duties Include:

  • Coordinates Mental Health Services transportation services by assigning daily rides and tasks, arranging outside transportation when needed, resolving routine transportation issues, developing or adjusting routes to accommodate current needs, filling in as a driver as needed, and tracking transportation data.
  • Assists manager with maintenance of vehicles by checking for safety problems and scheduled maintenance needs, obtaining authorization for major repairs, scheduling routine maintenance, and ensuring vehicles are clean and filled with sufficient gas.
  • Provides and ensures great customer service through communication with clinicians regarding potential problem areas, listening to complaints and addressing issues, and effective communication with consumers to ensure user-friendly service.
  • Trains drivers on safety skills, awareness of Mental Health policies and procedures, and customer service expectations. Monitors drivers and addresses training needs and other problems.

Job Requirements

High School Diploma or equivalent; one (1) year of driver experience as chauffeur or transporting customer, delivery service, dispatching, customer service, or relevant experience; and valid driver's license with acceptable driving record are required.

One (1) year of experience in community mental health setting serving the seriously and persistently mentally ill population preferred.

Johnson County Government requires reference/background screening for all positions. Specified criteria may vary by Department/Agency.

Physical, Environmental, and Special Working Conditions:All County employees may be called upon to assist other departments/agencies in a declared emergency situation.
