Overall responsibility for the Operation of the transportation and fleet activity of the Distribution Center. Provide all customers served by the facility with quality of service consistent with corporate goals.
Expenses and Productivity – Optimal delivery results that meet both cost and service goals, including ongoing cost reduction to capture savings while maintaining maximum efficiency.
Human Resources – Provide leadership and support to staff which results in a positive work environment in Transportation. Foster creativity, sustain productivity, and promote accountability.
Asset Management – Management of the company fleet while maintaining costs relative to budget restraints. Responsible for an annual operating expense budget.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Responsible for upholding delivery of all daily orders, accurately and on time.
Respond to all customer and salesman requests and recommendations in a timely manner.
Foster an atmosphere of good customer service throughout the transportation department, including supervisors, hourly reports and drivers.
Prepare an annual operating expense budget for the transportation department.
Use best practices when scheduling, ensuring truck routes are as efficient as possible, while meeting customer requirements.
Determine and recommend capital expenditures necessary to carry out objectives of transportation initiatives.
Negotiate freight rate programs with offsite carriers when applicable.
Responsible for the security and maintenance of all equipment, including tractors and trailers.
Establishment and management of driver safety and qualification standards.
Administer leasing of vehicles, operating expenses, and damage claims.
Minimization of company liability through diligent security management.
Responsible for compliance with government regulations, including DOT regulations.
Requirements and Qualifications
Minimum of 3 years transportation management.
Articulate, with good presentation and written communication skills.
PC skills with Google Suite, Microsoft Word and Excel.
Experience with generating annual expenses and operating budget.
Familiarity with DOT regulations.

Must have the ability to meet physical assessment requirements for this position
Ability to lift up to 25 lbs frequently and 50 lbs occasionally
Ability to complete the physical assessment
Willing to work long hours and be on call as needed
