By joining our Engineering Support Branch as a Transportation Engineering Branch Manager in Fayette County,
you’ll have the opportunity to manage the activities and employees within a highway engineering branch to
assure the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet mission is met with construction and maintenance projects.

Summary of Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the establishment and implementation of highway engineering programs.
  • Plan, assign, supervise, and coordinate the work of professional and technical personnel
  • Supervise and evaluate engineering consultants
  • Assist Chief District Engineer with various federal, state, and local agencies.

Ideal candidate will have experience in:

  • Licensed as a professional engineer by the Kentucky State Board of Licensure for Professional Engineers
    and Land Surveyors
  • Supervisory Experience

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS:
Must have four years of engineering experience in addition to that required for licensure as a professional engineer.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.):
Must possess a valid driver's license prior to employment in this job classification. Must be licensed as a professional engineer by the Kentucky Board of Engineers and Land Surveyors OR must be licensed in another state with the ability to obtain a Professional Engineering license from the Kentucky Board of Engineers and Land Surveyors within the employee's initial six month probationary period. Engineering decisions recommended by individuals without a Kentucky Professional Engineering License must be approved by a KRS Chapter 322 Licensed Professional Engineer until licensure is obtained. Employing agency is responsible for ensuring employee possesses and maintains required licensure(s), certification(s) or other credentials.

Working Conditions

Work is performed in the office and in the field. Will be exposed to risks inherent to construction sites which require the following of safety procedures.

Probationary Period

This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
