The Texas Department of Transportation’s Austin District Portfolio Office is seeking a Transportation Engineer Supervisor to lead the Portfolio Production Group (PPG) in Austin, TX This position supervises staff engaged in transportation engineering activities such as planning, design, construction, traffic operations, maintenance, and bridge inspection, with a strong focus on PS&E development and consultant design management.
Reporting to the Deputy Director of Transportation Planning & Development (TP&D), this role is virtually self‑supervising and assumes direct accountability for work products. The supervisor ensures compliance with federal and state laws, TxDOT policies, procedures, standards, and guidelines, and coordinates with governmental agencies, consultants, contractors, and internal stakeholders.

This position supervises the Austin District Portfolio Production Group (PPG), an office engaged in transportation engineering work in detailed plans specifications and estimate preparation and consultant deign management. This position reports to the Deputy Director of TP&D, is virtually self-supervising, and assumes direct accountability for the work product.

Education Bachelor's Degree in engineering or related science bachelor's or higher degree accepted by TX PELS
Experience:
Licenses and Certifications
*Professional engineers licensed in another state in the United States, but not currently licensed in the State of Texas, must (1) meet the license requirements of the State of Texas Engineering Practices Act, (2) obtain a professional engineering license from the State of Texas within six (6) months of the date of hire, and (3) sign an agreement to that effect as a condition of employment.
