By joining our District 6 Burlington Section as a Transportation Engineer I in Kenton County, you'll have the
opportunity to perform professional engineering work in the planning, design, construction and maintenance of
highways, structures, or facilities. Manages and oversees activities of transportation engineering projects
with minimal phases and limited scope of work. Reviews and approves transportation engineering documents and
performs other duties as required.
Summary of Responsibilities:
Manage and oversee activities of engineering projects and programs with multiple phases and larger scopes of
work and approve engineering documents as a Licensed Professional Engineer. - Designs or coordinates the
planning and, or, design of transportation facilities in accordance with the department's policies, procedures
and standards and in accordance with federal rules and regulations.
- Interprets project plans and contract documents for property owners, local officials, contractors,
consultants, materials suppliers and property owners. - Reviews and investigates complaints of property owners
and local officials.
- Travel throughout an assigned area or throughout the District for the purpose of conferring on technical
and operational problems with contractors, material suppliers, consultants, local officials, departmental
engineers and county maintenance and special operations crews. - Makes routine and final inspection and
acceptance of construction and maintenance projects.
- Interprets and drafts professional and technical papers and reports.
- Reviews planning studies and makes
recommendations for alternative solutions. Makes recommendations concerning the planning or design of
transportation facilities and related work.
- Reviews requests for repairs, makes estimates, determines expenditures of funds for transportation
programs. - Performs other duties as assigned.
