Summary

**Disclaimer-this position will be considered classified-exempt and “at will.”

The Transportation Engineer 4 in this position will serve as the Area Construction Engineer and report to the District Two Construction Office in Cabell County. The selected applicant will perform advanced-level professional engineering work involving project leadership and technical oversight within the West Virginia Division of Highways [WVDOH]. Oversight of and conduct of independent civil engineering design, project tracking, and technical review. Work involves oversight of multi-million-dollar capital improvement programs, oversight of binding high-level engineering determinations, directing consultant engineering contracts, and managing staff across technical and administrative functions. Incumbents exercise direct administrative and technical supervision over Transportation Engineers 1 - 3, Engineers-in-Training (EIT), Transportation Engineering Technicians [TRETs], and administrative personnel.

Specialized or unit-level leadership engineering work. Holds key district operational position of Area Construction Engineer. Performs related work as required.

Qualifications

**Preference may be given to Candidates with these qualifications**

TRAINING/EDUCATION

• Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) in the State of West Virginia (or licensed in another state with the ability to obtain WV P.E. registration by comity within 6 months of hire)
• Bachelor’s degree in civil, electrical, mechanical, industrial, petroleum, mining, environmental, engineering technology, or a related engineering field from an ABET-accredited program.

RECOMMENDED EXPERIENCE

• Seven + (7) years of progressive, professional civil engineering experience.

Preferred experience: At least three (3) years of post-licensure experience performing complex design/construction management or supervisory engineering duties.
