Job Title: Transportation Coordinator

  • The Transportation Coordinator is responsible for managing and optimizing the daily transportation operations to ensure efficient and timely delivery of our products.
  • This involves scheduling shipments, coordinating with carriers, tracking deliveries, maximizing shipping opportunities, minimizing freight costs, and ensuring compliance with transportation regulations and company policies. This role will include support for both domestic and international shipments.

Location: This position is onsite in Kalamazoo 5 days/week, as it supports our Operations team.

What you will do:

  • Serves as a SAP “super user” with the ability to navigate from a sales order through the shipment process.
  • Schedule and coordinate any daily inbound and outbound shipments
  • Communicate with carriers, vendors, and internal departments to ensure timely on-time delivery.
  • Work with Planning, Customer Service, and site leadership to maximize daily shipping schedules
  • Monitor and manage transportation costs by following customer schedules and dictating the proper mode of shipment
  • Track shipments and provide status updates if necessary
  • Manage and escalate back ordered items by utilizing company reports and systems
  • Resolve or escalate any issues related to delays, damaged goods, or misrouted shipments.
  • Help ensure compliance with accurate BOLs, DOT, or international paperwork completed within the Distribution team.
  • Ensure on-time completion of revenue recognition activities post shipment.
  • Provide training and/or guidance to warehouse & team personnel as necessary.
  • Support the development or revision of guidelines and work instructions
  • Support Distribution/Logistic complaints, disputes, and credits for continuous improvements on reducing freight and operations costs.
  • Provide feedback to team members to help improve their processes.
  • Support/Execute the outlined goals and KPI”s of Distribution leadership
  • Focus on continuous improvement activities/projects to improve processes, customer delivery, efficiency, or cost savings.
  • Miscellaneous duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • High School Diploma is required
  • Proven proficiency in SAP and/or other ERP systems
  • Previous experience with shipment of Hazardous goods is a plus (49 CFR, IATA, IMDG)
  • Intermediate Microsoft Office skills (Excel) and analyzing report data required
