This position is responsible for the execution of transportation plans and strategies, focusing on safety, service, cost and productivity. The Transportation Analyst responsible for monitoring data flows and synchronization activities between critical business systems used in both upstream replenishment and downstream fulfillment processes and also preparing and distributing daily, weekly, and monthly Transportation reports. This position will handle repeatable analysis and tasks driving continuous cost and service improvement by recommending and implementing stated improvements. The position must work effectively across multiple division, and cooperatively with numerous service providers.

EDUCATION:

Required: Bachelor’s degree in business, Industrial Engineering, Logistics, Supply Chain or related field or (4) four years of equivalent work experience.

Preferred: Hazardous material transport certification, classes in DOT regulations and requirements.

EXPERIENCE:

Required: A minimum of (4) four years of transportation or logistics experience, including: carrier management, transportation planning, project management, logistics analysis, or financial analysis, required for this position.

Preferred: A minimum of (5) five years transportation or logistics experience, a similar area of study or routing and dispatch experience.

POSITION REQUIREMENT(S): Specialized Skills/License/Certification

Required: Ability to manage competing priorities and shifting deadlines in a fast-paced, high-volume transportation environment. Familiarity with full truckload and less than truckload operations. Intermediate skills in Outlook, Word, and Excel (including prior data analytics experience). Working knowledge of financial logistics (TMS or ERP systems.)

Preferred: Familiarity with DOT regulations, knowledge of hazardous materials shipping requirements.


CORE COMPETENCIES (Essential Job Functions)

  • Develop, manage, and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for carrier performance, cost control, and service levels.
  • Optimize transportation strategies to enhance service levels while reducing costs through shipment consolidation and route planning.
  • Conducts carrier invoice audits to ensure billing accuracy against contracted rates and accessorials; resolves discrepancies and approves carrier payment.
  • Collaborate with Distribution, Customer Service, and Sales teams to resolve logistics issues and ensure seamless order fulfillment.
  • Manages the quarterly FTL bid process, including carrier solicitation, rate analysis, and award recommendations that balance cost, service, and lane coverage.
  • Monitors carrier service levels against contracted performance standards; identifies trends in service failures and drives corrective action with underperforming carriers.
  • Serves as the primary point of contact for resolving carrier service issues, including missed pickups, late deliveries, and capacity shortfalls.
  • Supports Transportation Coordinators with load tendering for standard and expedited/rush outbound shipments, ensuring on-time coverage during peak volume or coordinator absence.
  • Acts as the escalation point for at-risk shipments, including after-hours availability as needed to resolve time-sensitive service disruptions.
  • Execute analysis and data preparation in support of sales or operational activities.
  • Builds and maintains transportation analytics and reporting to support carrier scorecards, cost trending, lane performance, and bid decision-making.
  • Other projects as assigned.
