Job Description

About Us

Join us at Cleanaway and contribute to making a sustainable future possible, together.

We transform waste into resources and renewable energy. When you start to think of waste as a resource, it opens a world of possibilities.

As a high-growth, ASX-listed organisation with over 10,000 employees, our goal is to be recognised by our customers as the most innovative and sustainable waste management company with industry-leading HSE performance. We are Australia’s largest company in this sector, providing essential services to millions of customers and communities nationally.

The Opportunity

As part of a significant systems upgrade and operational transformation, we're building our future transport planning capability and recruiting Transport Schedulers to join our growing team.

Ideally based in one of our branches in Melbourne’s Central/ West suburbs (e.g Laverton, Brooklyn etc.), this is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in shaping how transport services are planned, coordinated and delivered across the region.

As a Transport Scheduler, you'll work within our Future Operations Team, planning transport activities more than one day in advance to ensure efficient, safe, and reliable service delivery.

This is a highly influential role where you'll balance customer requirements, fleet availability, driver resources, operational capacity, and contractual commitments to create smart and efficient transport plans. Your work will directly impact service performance, customer satisfaction, fleet utilisation, and operational efficiency across the network.

Working closely with Operations, Customer Service, Transport Solutions Specialists, Sales, and Fleet teams, you'll help drive a proactive and data-driven approach to transport planning while supporting a culture of service excellence and continuous improvement.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Build and optimise transport schedules, routes, and fleet allocations that maximise efficiency and service outcomes.
  • Coordinate with operational leaders and customer service teams to ensure schedules are practical, achievable, and compliant with Chain of Responsibility (CoR) requirements.
  • Analyse operational data and planning metrics to identify trends, opportunities, and performance improvements.
  • Support operations through strong communication, stakeholder engagement, and solution-focused problem solving.

About You

You're a planner at heart who enjoys turning complexity into practical solutions.

You'll bring experience from transport, logistics, waste management, FMCG, supply chain, or a similar operational environment, along with the ability to interpret data and translate insights into practical business outcomes.

  • Experience in transport scheduling, route planning, or logistics coordination.
  • Strong knowledge of fleet operations, vehicle capabilities, driver planning, and transport compliance.
  • Experience using transport management, scheduling, or route optimisation platforms such as AMCS or similar systems.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills, including Excel, reporting, data analysis, and presentation tools such as Power BI and PowerPoint.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate data into operational decisions.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships across multiple teams.
  • Strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • A proactive, adaptable, and customer-focused approach to work.

If you're passionate about optimisation, enjoy solving complex transport challenges, and want to play a key role in shaping the future of transport operations, we'd encourage you to apply and be part of our transformation journey.
