Sets up and operates various types of equipment. Administers prescribed doses of drugs. Prepares and maintains a chart for each patient. Cleans, inspects and tests equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Performs all the duties of the Registered Respiratory Therapist.
  • Participates in safety briefings with ground and air crew members. Communicates personal accountabilities for maintaining a safe environment by indicating to crew members changes in road conditions or air space conditions (e.g. inclement weather, closed air space NOTAMs or special seasonal activities). Contributes to ongoing assessment tools for quality assurance methods to further enhance to program’s safe operation utilizing QI documentation tools, selected transport debriefings and chart review.
  • Develops, maintains and documents competency in accordance with required clinical competencies for a Transport RCP. Receives report from referring hospitals/agencies. Gathers all relevant data, diagnostic tests, and applies patient care following DHART protocols.
  • Manages patients with individualized care by evaluating effectiveness/outcome of care; recognizing significant changes in condition; and modifying care based on clinical presentation.
  • Works in partnership with teammates, patients, patients’ health care providers/guardians, members of the health care team and the appropriate Medical Control officer to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
  • Performs and documents procedures as outlined in the DHART Clinical Protocols.
  • Completes all required documentation of patient transport prior to completion of assigned work shift.
  • Identifies logistical shortcomings and addresses findings with appropriate transport councils and DHART leadership.
  • Ensures operational readiness of medical equipment and assigned transport vehicle.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned.
  • Qualifications

    • 3 years of tertiary care center (Level I) Critical Care RRT experience in the care of adult, pediatric, or neonatal patients preferred.
    • Previous transport experience preferred.
    • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively as a member of a multi-disciplinary team required.
    • Completion of DHART orientation program required prior to being assigned as a team member.
    • Must be capable of meeting DHART mandatory physical requirements as verified by the DHMC Occupational Medicine Service during pre-employment screening physical examination, and then yearly as required.

    Required Licensure/Certifications

    • Current RCP licensure in the State of NH.
    • Licensed EMT in the state of NH and VT, both within one year of hire date.
    • Nationally Registered EMT or EMT Advanced (NREMT) within one year of hire date.
    • Current certification in BLS.
    • ACLS certification upon hire.
    • PALS certfication upon hire.
    • NRP certfication upon hire.
    • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) upon hire.
    • Certified Neonatal Pediatric Transport (NPT) within one year of hire date.
