Want to bring ideas to life?

If you’re in the engineering and transport planning world, you’ll know Aurecon. For decades, we’ve been a leading design, engineering, and advisory company. But why should you choose to join us?

Every project Aurecon delivers leaves a legacy. Sustainability is embedded in every decision we make. And each project is at the forefront of technical excellence.

Ultimately, it comes down to one key question: what kind of world do you want to help create for the next generation? The decisions being made now will shape the future of our communities, our state, and the planet. One of those decisions is choosing the right place to build your career.

Our NSW & ACT Integrated Transport and Mobility (ITM) Practice is growing, and we are seeking an experienced Transport Planner/ traffic engineer (5–10 years experience) to join our Sydney team.

The role

You will work on a mix of Transport Impact Assessments (TIA), strategic transport planning, and transport advisory projects for major developments and infrastructure. This is a hands-on role with direct client exposure, and clear pathways to senior and leadership opportunities.

You will:

  • Lead and deliver Transport Impact Assessments for complex development and infrastructure projects
  • Contribute to strategic transport planning, active transport, and multimodal access studies
  • Support or manage projects end-to-end, including scope, programme, budget, and risk
  • Engage directly with clients, approval authorities, and stakeholders
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across Aurecon
  • Contribute to winning work and growing trusted client relationships

What we’re looking for

  • A relevant tertiary qualification with 5–10 years’ experience in transport planning/ traffic engineering
  • Strong experience preparing and reviewing Transport Impact Assessments
  • Sound technical judgement and confidence working with data, modelling outputs, and policy frameworks
  • Experience supporting or leading project delivery
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills
  • A collaborative mindset and interest in mentoring others

Why Aurecon

  • High-profile projects across transport, precincts, and major infrastructure
  • Strong technical culture with access to industry leaders
  • Clear career progression and leadership pathways
  • Recognised for innovation, sustainability, and workplace culture

You’ll already know our work across NSW and the ACT, including Sydney Metro (Southwest Metro), Gadigal Over Station Development, Central Station Redevelopment, the Sydney Harbour Bridge Cycle Ramp, and a growing portfolio of energy transition and Net Zero transport programs. Our team is also delivering complex rail, road, and urban precinct projects that are reshaping how people move across the state.

If you’re ready to step into a role where your professional judgement is trusted, your ideas influence outcomes, and your work contributes to projects of genuine public significance, we’d like to hear from you.
