The Transport Planner is responsible for route planning, schedule management, and load optimization within Jumia's logistics network, working closely with dispatch, warehouse, and 3PL teams to ensure efficient, cost-effective, and on-time movement of shipments.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Plan and optimize daily transport routes and vehicle allocation to maximize fleet efficiency and minimize delays.
  • Utilize Jumia's logistics systems (e.g., TMS) to create and adjust dynamic routes, aligning with real-time demand, traffic conditions, and delivery SLAs.
  • Publish daily and weekly capacity plans based on shipment volume and size mix (small/medium/bulky).
  • Coordinate pickup and delivery schedules with dispatch teams, warehouse operations, and third-party logistics partners.
  • Track key metrics such as on-time delivery rates, fuel efficiency, vehicle utilization, and route adherence; recommend adjustments based on data trends.
  • Support cost-saving initiatives by identifying inefficiencies in routing and load planning.
  • Assist in resolving scheduling conflicts, exceptions, and delivery escalations in coordination with dispatch and customer service teams.
  • Maintain accurate planning records and prepare regular reports on route performance, capacity utilization, and plan adherence for management review.
  • Collaborate with warehouse and network teams to align transport plans with inbound and outbound volume projections.

What We Are Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Operations, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience in logistics, transportation planning, or dispatch operations.
  • Proficiency in Transport Management Systems (TMS), route optimization software, and Excel/data analysis tools.
  • Strong analytical and data-driven approach to problem-solving, with experience in KPI tracking and route performance analysis.
  • Understanding of supply chain operations, last-mile delivery challenges, and e-commerce logistics requirements.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple planning priorities simultaneously.
  • Good communication skills, with the ability to coordinate effectively across dispatch, warehouse, and 3PL stakeholders.
  • Must have NYSC certificate or possess a valid exemption letter.
