Job Description
Transport Operations Specialist
Are you the person who takes the problem nobody else wants — the one that has bounced between three parties for a week — and makes sure it is solved and does not come back? Join Axis Communications in Lund as our first Senior Transport Operations Specialist and build the operational backbone of our global transport logistics.
Who is your future team?
You will join our Transport Logistics team in Lund, optimizing transport logistics across the full supply chain: inbound, outbound, reverse logistics and procurement.
We work end to end rather than in flow-based silos, in clear specialisms that depend on each other: operations own daily flows and performance, our Logistics Developers own process and system development, and procurement holds the commercial relationship with our transport providers.
Most problems worth solving pass through all three before they are genuinely fixed.
This is a new role, created because operational ownership has no clear home today. You would be the first person in the seat, with real influence over how it is shaped.
What you'll do here as Senior Transport Operations Specialist
You will be the operational anchor of the Transport Logistics team. You own how we handle operational work — the standard, the process, and the operational relationship with our carriers. Without that ownership, good individual work does not add up to reliable operations, and that is why this role matters.
Own complex operational issue resolution
Diagnose root causes, drive durable fixes rather than workarounds, and make sure the same issue does not return next month.
Own the operational way of working —Define the operational way of working — set, document and maintain high standards for how cases are handled and prioritized, across all carriers and flows.
Lead operational meetings with our transport providers — represent Axis in regular performance reviews, hold carriers accountable to agreed service levels, and drive action on deviations.
Own and report operational KPIs — delivery performance, claims, transit time compliance and more. Translate data into clear insight and improvement actions, not just numbers on a slide.
Turn cases into evidence and carry them through — operations see problems first. You quantify what you see, turn individual cases into an evidenced pattern, and hand it to our developers for root cause work or to procurement for commercial escalation. You also sit close to the daily case queue, so you hear what is slowing our transport administrators down before anyone else does — tooling gaps, unclear steps, recurring friction. Collect it, turn it into concrete asks, and follow it through to a verified fix.
Set the standard and share the load — lift the consistency and quality of the team's core tasks by coaching through doing. You will be hands-on with the daily work too: case handling, claims and stakeholder communication are the team's shared base load, and you are part of it. You will also contribute your operational expertise to new service launches, carrier onboardings and system changes.
Your mandate — what you own and what you don't.
You own the how. You do not own who. The operational working standard, case prioritization, carrier operational meetings and operational KPIs are yours to decide and drive.
People management — stays with the Transport Logistics Manager.
Who are you?
You are operationally confident and genuinely comfortable owning difficult situations. You do not wait for someone else to solve a hard problem — you dig in, figure it out, and make sure it does not happen again. You communicate clearly with both carriers and internal stakeholders, and you know that trust in operations is built through reliability and follow-through.
You are analytical. You use data to understand what is happening and why, not just to report it. You are organized enough to handle volume without dropping detail, and still able to zoom out when the situation demands it.
You are comfortable owning your part deeply and handing the rest over. In a specialist setup the handover matters as much as the work — you will need to trust colleagues with problems you could probably solve yourself and be clear about what you need back.
And you are comfortable building something that does not exist yet. There is no established way of working waiting for you here. There is a team that needs one.
We'd love to hear that you have
Around five years or more of experience in transport logistics operations in an international or global environment — for example from a freight forwarder, carrier, third-party logistics provider (3PL) or a shipper's own transport organization. If you have built equivalent depth more quickly, we would still like to hear from you.
Demonstrated ability to handle and resolve complex operational issues independently — not just escalate them.
Experience leading or driving operational performance meetings with external transport providers.
Evidence that you have worked on the process, not only in it — you have improved how operational work is done, not only executed it well.
Solid understanding of transport flows across inbound, outbound and reverse logistics, and across modes.
Analytical capability — comfortable working with data to build insight, not just report figures.
Professional proficiency in English, spoken and written.
A degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics or a related field is valuable, as is equivalent knowledge gained through experience. We care about what you can do.
Bonus points if you also bring:
Experience across several carriers and modes rather than depth in one.
Familiarity with KPI reporting and operational performance management.
Comfortable reading and acting on an existing Power BI reporting setup — you will be working in it day to day, not building it.
Comfortable with AI tools and open to being an early adopter of new technology.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics 365 or a similar ERP and TMS environment.
