Job Description

WSP is seeking a highly skilled Transport Modeler to join our Transport Planning & Mobility team in Abu Dhabi. The successful candidate will support the delivery of high profile modelling & planning projects across the UAE and wider GCC region, contributing to evidence based planning, strategy development, and mobility solutions.

This role is ideal for a professional with hands-on experience using Abu Dhabi ITC’s Strategic Transportation Evaluation and Assessment Model (STEAM) and a strong understanding of transport planning and modelling principles within the UAE context. ITC approval as an authorised STEAM Modeler is essential.

  • Update, refine, and manage STEAM model inputs, assumptions, and scenarios for a wide range of transport planning, master planning, and mobility studies.
  • Carry out STEAM model runs and scenario testing in accordance with ITC guidelines and official procedures.
  • Analyse model outputs to support impact assessments, feasibility studies, policy recommendations, and transport strategies.
  • Prepare clear technical reports, modelling summaries, and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Support senior engineers and project managers in delivering modelling components on time and to high technical standards.
  • Contribute to data collection strategies, data processing, QA/QC, and documentation of modelling methodologies and assumptions.
  • Liaise effectively with clients, authorities (including ITC), and multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Stay updated with modelling best practices, emerging technologies, and UAE transport planning guidelines.
  • 4+ years of professional experience in transport modelling within consultancy or government sectors.
  • Mandatory ITC Approval as a STEAM modeler from ITC Abu Dhabi.
  • Proven, hands-on experience working with the STEAM model, including established workflows and reporting requirements.
  • Understanding of UAE transport standards, transport demand modelling principles, and calibration/validation methodologies.
  • Experience with ITC TMP & TIS projects.
  • Awareness/working knowledge of Aimsun is advantageous.
  • Strong analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel and data processing tools; experience with other modelling software is an advantage.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast‑paced, multidisciplinary team environment.
