Job Description

The Transport Manager’s primary function is to coordinate movement of domestic freight from National, Regional and Temperature Controlled DC’s to our store network, and from Suppliers to our National and Regional DC’s.

In this position you will manage the performance and expenses of transport providers, ensuring that vehicles are safe and meet legal requirements, as well as seeking new opportunities to provide better service to your customers.

Qualifications

  • Proactive and able to quickly adapt to the changing needs of a growing retailer
  • Sound understanding of supply chain and experience with logistic functions
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a similar role within a retail business
  • Knowledge and experience in NHVR and Chain of Responsibility Legislation
  • Ability to communicate in a clear and concise manner
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft office suite; particularly excel
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and the ability to successfully interact with stakeholders to problem solve and achieve goals and influence
  • Ability to interact and develop working relationships with all levels and areas of the organisation
  • Strong stakeholder management mindset
  • An energetic, driven and passionate attitude

Additional Information

Key Accountabilities/Responsibilities

  • Driving safe practices with carriers
  • Manage the day to day movement of freight from Distribution Centres, Ambient and Temperature Controlled, to the store network
  • Work collaboratively with distribution centres and transport providers to ensure the smooth flow of stock from despatch to delivery
  • Develop relationships with transport providers and key stakeholders to enable beneficial collaboration
  • Liaise between distribution centres, transport providers and stores to resolve any outstanding query regarding delivery of Distribution Centre orders
  • Manage and review freight providers KPI performance
  • Perform analysis to identify areas of opportunity related to Delivery-On-Time performance, rate reviews, and damage in transit
  • Investigate new technology and opportunities with both existing and external providers
  • Project, report and manage domestic logistics expenses
  • Track and report any realised domestic logistics savings
  • Perform analysis to identify and recommend business opportunities in delivery frequency to develop service and cost improvements without impacting the overall replenishment process or on shelf availability
