Application Deadline: 1 July 2026
Department: Logistics
Employment Type: Full Time
Location: Overland Park, Morley
Compensation: £48,000 - £52,000 / year
About the team:
Our Logistics team is critical to our operation and ensures our boxes are picked, packed and moved in an efficient manner both internally in our warehouse and by road. Compliance is a key factor in this and it is essential that this is carried out inline with the required legislation.
About the role:
You will own the safe, compliant, on-time movement of goods from “ready to dispatch” through to carrier handover / vehicle departure. Lead the Goods Out / Transport team day-to-day to deliver service, cost and safety targets while protecting stock integrity and maintaining strong scan discipline.
Key Responsibilities
- Run the daily dispatch plan: wave releases, staging, loading sequences, and carrier collections.
- Maintain a controlled dispatch area: lanes, staging, cage/pallet control, FIFO where relevant.
- Ensure correct packaging, labelling, and documentation are produced and checked.
- Verify handover to carriers / drivers (counts, scans, manifests, sealing where applicable).
- Manage exceptions: failed collections, late orders, relabel/rework, missing items, and last-minute priority changes.
- Transport planning & carrier management
- Plan collections and outbound capacity in line with volumes, cut-offs and service needs.
- Liaise with carriers/couriers to manage performance: punctuality, damage, failed deliveries, claims.
- Maintain accurate carrier booking and tracking processes; escalate recurring performance issues.
- Support continuous optimisation of cost per parcel/unit, utilisation, and dispatch efficiency.
- Compliance, safety & risk management
- Enforce safe systems of work for loading/unloading, manual handling, and yard movements.
- Maintain and audit compliance routines (as relevant to fleet model):
- Vehicle walkaround checks and defect reporting
- Maintenance scheduling / service intervals / MOT/inspections
- Driver documentation (licences/authorisations), competency and training records
- Incident, near-miss, and damage reporting with corrective actions
- Lead by example on housekeeping, PPE, and pedestrian/vehicle segregation controls in goods-out areas.
- Stock integrity & scan discipline
- Ensure every outbound movement is correctly scanned/recorded to maintain inventory integrity.
- Prevent mis-shipments through robust checks (right item, right label, right carrier, right destination).
- Run regular spot checks and reconcile exceptions (missing scan, duplicate scan, wrong label, damages).
- People leadership
- Lead and develop a team of Goods Out Operatives / Drivers / Dispatch Coordinators (as applicable).
- Create clear standard work and training plans; onboard new starters effectively.
- Set expectations, coach performance, and address issues early and fairly.
- Support shift handovers with clear communication and a “no surprises” culture.
- Continuous improvement
- Identify bottlenecks and waste in dispatch and transport processes; run structured problem-solving (5 Whys, SOP updates, visual management).
- Implement and sustain standards (5S) in dispatch zones: staging, equipment, labels, consumables, returns-to-stock flow.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- Transport management experience
- H&S, incidents, audit scores, training completion
- Experience with v ehicle compliance (checks, defects closed, maintenance on schedule)
- On-time departure / collection adherence
- OTIF / delivery service performance (where available)
- Scan compliance / manifest accuracy
