Job Description

You’re agile, keen and open to meaningful work and opportunities that come your way.

Work in an organisation based on purpose, structure and process. You know that to make a meaningful contribution to our community and economy, there needs to be diligence in our operations.

In this role, you'll:

You thrive in a fast-paced team environment that challenges you.

You're ready to help shape our narrative. Your expertise will amplify the impact of initiatives, foster public trust and ensure our stakeholders are engaged and empowered by what we do.

In this role, you'll:

Join our Operations Communications team as a Transport Information Officer, where you will provide clear, meaningful, and actionable information and advice to the travelling public of NSW. You will communicate information across multiple modes of Transport, including public transport, and use a variety of communications tools to disseminate this information.

You will be responsible for:

• Delivering customer information via Live Traffic NSW, transportnsw.info, social media, and other communications channels when appropriate.

• Working in partnership with internal and external stakeholders, answering customer questions from a number of sources including phone, social media and websites.

• Working cooperatively within an operational team, exchanging information and assisting other team members to achieve team objectives and work outcomes.

• Producing information for social media and digital content with a focus on providing up to date information to road and public transport users.

About you

You will have demonstrated experience in an operational and hands-on communications environment and will have the ability to convert complex operational information during major incidents and events into information for the public and key stakeholders.

You can maintain composure in a dynamic, high-pressured setting and can think on your feet and make decisions within a live 24/7 operations centre environment. Your strong written and verbal communication skills will allow you to deliver time-critical messaging for the travelling public.

Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline such as communications and / or relevant industry experience in a similar role would be beneficial, along with the ability to identify issues with a high risk or potential public exposure and provide a managed response. Ideally you will be confident using technology, social media and content management systems.

This is a permanent, full-time position based at our Transport Management Centre (TMC) in Eveleigh. The TMC is a 24/7 operations centre, and you will therefore be required to work rostered, rotating shifts that include weekends. Penalty rates, overtime and additional annual leave will be paid in accordance with the Transport Award.
