Transport Engineer Tech I: Performs basic design work and calculations. performs field work; uses automated systems. Design activity is overseen by a licensed professional engineer or registered architect who has final approval authority for projects. Employees at this level follow standard practices that do not require frequent supervision of details.Transport Engineer Tech II: Performs intermediate design work and calculations; performs field work; uses automated systems and learns specialized procedures. Design activity is overseen by a licensed professional engineer or registered architect who has final approval authority for projects. Employees at this level perform work independently on assignments; however, all unusual issues are referred to the supervisor.Essential Duties:Transport Engineer Tech I:Performs basic design work.Performs intermediate drafting and calculations in support of design activities; accomplishes non-routine and complex assignments.Prepares field notes.Prepares quantity summaries, hydraulic and utility studies and right-of-way maps.Prepares roadway design, traffic control, lighting, signal, and building plans.Works on reproduction of plans.Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.Transport Engineer Tech II:Includes all essential duties listed above as well as:Assists in on-the-job training of less experienced technicians.Performs advanced drafting and calculations in support of design activities; develops graphic presentations that include distinctive design features.Performs intermediate design work.Reviews entire sets of plans for format, drafting and calculation errors and correlation of plans and specifications.Writes general notes, specifications and provisions.Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:Education: High School Grad or Equivalent in general high school studies. (Applicable to both levels)Experience: Transport Engineer Tech I: No Experience requiredTransport Engineer Tech II: 2 YEARS Drafting, design, plan preparation (Experience can be satisfied by full time or prorated part time equivalent). Related College education or relevant technical training may be substituted for experience on a year per year basis. Substitutions for Minimum QualificationsLicenses and Certifications:
