DUTIES
Under close supervision as a learner in training for advancement to the next higher grade in his/her promotional sequence, works with employees of higher classification in electrical and other work in and about substations and shops; performing such duties as
Assisting employees of higher classification in their work, including supplying them with tools, instruments, materials and equipment.
Caring for tools, instruments, materials, and equipment used in the work.
Operating power driven hand tools, such as air hammers, electric drills; sharpening drills, using emery wheel and using taps.
Operating torches, handling solder, removing insulation from wires, etc.
Tinning and soldering joints and lugs.
Bending, cutting and threading conduit and pipe by hand.
Driving a truck or other Company vehicles on a limited basis, such as, to and from job site, when required; and other driving incidental with performance of duties.
Acquiring a working knowledge of safety rules, first-aid and safety and fire-fighting equipment used on the system.
Performing other similar or less skilled work.
QUALIFICATIONS
Must meet the Company's requirements as to GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS
Must have acquired a knowledge of the use and care of the more common tools used in the work.
Must be capable of passing the Company's drivers examination and possess the necessary driver's license, including the appropriate Commercial Drivers License.
Must possess and demonstrate through testing an aptitude for mechanical and electrical work.
Must possess and demonstrate ability to climb structures and extension ladders, and work at elevated levels.
Specific Requirements
Ability to successfully complete the Construction and Skilled Trade (CAST-R) Testing
Ability to obtain a valid Class A commercial driver’s license (CDL)
Due to OSHA imposed regulations, the body weight limit is imposed at 285 lbs. or less.
Onsite Mobility Classification – Work will be performed at a company facility.
