Transmission Lines Design Engineer – Structural-266994

UGL’S Utilities team designs, constructs and maintains critical infrastructure across the power, water and renewable sectors. Ranging from HV Substations and Transmission Lines up to 500kV to power stations and wastewater treatment plants. We design and construct the following assets: substations, transmission lines, power generation, and electrical distribution networks.

UGL is currently looking for an experienced Senior Transmission Design Engineer to become a key member of the Transmission Line team based in Sydney. You will be responsible for providing detailed structural designs, developing specifications and interface with management and clients on design issue

Your Role

The Transmission Design Engineer is a key member of UGL wider TL design team. Will be responsible for but not limited to:

·Provide structural design works supporting Transmission lines tenders and projects. The design work involves design of support structures and foundations.

·Interface with management and other TL engineers on technical issues,

·Engineering programs and budget estimates for UGL TL tenders and projects,

·Check professional engineering works to ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards and UGL internal quality requirements and general practice.

-Perform structural analysis and design of transmission line towers, poles, and foundations (using tools such as PLS-CADD, PLS-TOWER, and PLS-POLE).

-Assist in the preparation of design reports, calculations, drawings, and technical documentation.

-Contribute to site investigations, and construction-phase engineering support and assessment as required.

About You

·Minimum 4-year degree qualification to bachelor status in Structural/civil engineering,

·3 to 5 years’ experience in structural design of towers and pole for transmission line projects,

·Experience with PLS-CADD suite (PLS-TOWER experience highly desirable).

·Professional level knowledge of AS/NZS 7000, AS/NZS 1170, AS/NZS 3600 and other standards applicable to the transmission line design,

·Membership to Engineers Australia is highly regarded,

·Strong oral & written English language communication skills.
