of Responsibilities:

Protect What Powers Communities

At ATC, our transmission system is critical infrastructure that communities rely on every day. As a Transmission Line Maintenance Engineer, you will serve as a trusted technical expert responsible for planning, executing, and supporting maintenance programs that protect system reliability. This role is ideal for an experienced, field-engaged engineer who combines strong technical judgment with calm leadership and collaborative execution.

If you’re motivated by ownership, problem-solving, and supporting crews and contractors in real-world conditions, this is your opportunity to make a visible and lasting impact.

Essential Responsibilities:

Why This Role Matters

Transmission Line Maintenance Engineers at ATC play a critical role in safeguarding asset performance and preventing outages before they happen. You will lead maintenance programs, balance competing priorities, and support emergency response when it matters most—directly influencing the reliability of the electric grid.

This role offers technical ownership, cross-functional visibility, and the opportunity to be relied on as a go-to expert within Asset Maintenance and Operations. ATC embraces flexibility in our work and our workplace. We trust our employees to get work done where and when it makes sense, depending on the schedule for the day and the needs of the business and this role is a mix of office and field work.

What You’ll Do

  • Serve as the technical lead for assigned transmission line maintenance programs.
  • Independently resolve moderately complex technical issues using engineering judgment and data.
  • Plan, prioritize, and execute maintenance work across competing priorities and schedules.
  • Manage contractors and third-party field services performing inspection, maintenance, and restoration work.
  • Develop and manage annual work plans, budgets, forecasts, and cost controls.
  • Collaborate closely with vegetation management, operations, asset management, and capital project teams.
  • Provide dependable support during outages, emergency restoration, and ATC Ready events.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, related STEM field, or equivalent experience.
  • 4+ years of progressively responsible experience in transmission or distribution systems.
  • Strong understanding of transmission line materials, components, and field systems.
  • Experience managing contractors, field services, and third-party vendors.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan programs, manage budgets, and forecast costs.
  • Calm, analytical, and decisive work style with strong collaboration skills.
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel periodically within the service territory.

Why ATC

At ATC, you’ll work with talented professionals who value safety, accountability, and collaboration. We offer meaningful work, competitive pay and benefits, flexibility in how you work, and long-term growth opportunities—all while supporting infrastructure that truly matters.
