Electric Operations ensures the delivery of clean, safe, reliable, and affordable energy to nearly 16 million people in Northern and Central California. Electric Operations is responsible for every aspect of PG&E’s electric distribution and transmission operations and maintenance, as well as power generation operations. The organization manages over 100,000 circuit miles of electric distribution lines and over 18,000 circuit miles of interconnected transmission lines and operates and maintains hydroelectric, fossil, solar generation, and battery storage facilities.
A critical component of Electric Operations is the planning, design, and maintenance of the electric transmission system. The Transmission Line (T‑Line) Engineering group supports the safe, reliable, and compliant design and operation of overhead transmission lines, structures, and associated infrastructure by applying industry standards, sound engineering judgment, and continuous improvement practices.
Transmission Line Engineering is responsible for providing engineering support for the planning, design, evaluation, and maintenance of PG&E’s electric transmission system. Engineering support may include structural analysis of transmission towers and poles, conductor and hardware evaluation, foundation and right‑of‑way considerations, constructability reviews, and support of capital and maintenance programs.
This internship position will assist engineers with transmission line design activities, data analysis, field investigations, and engineering documentation related to overhead transmission assets. The intern will work closely with experienced engineers, project managers, and field construction teams while developing foundational knowledge of transmission line engineering principles. The position contributes to safety excellence by supporting the reliable and compliant operation of PG&E’s transmission infrastructure.
This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned work location based on business needs. The work location is Oakland, CA. The intern is expected to come into the work location at least 4 days a week.
PG&E is providing the hourly rate range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual hourly rate paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity.
The hourly rate for this position ranges from $24.52 to $35.37.
