Job Description

Transload Loader

Starting Pay: $20/hour
Location: 7550 Grade Lane, Louisville, KY 40219

Road & Rail Services has been a trusted leader in rail-related operations since 1987, supporting customers across North America with intermodal logistics, plant and terminal services, railcar maintenance, and field operations. Our commitment to safety, training, and employee development has allowed us to grow steadily while promoting from within. When you join our team, you step into a company that values your growth, supports your learning, and prioritizes your safety every single day.

We are looking for a dependable, mechanically inclined individual to join our Louisville team as a Transload Loader. In this role, you will support the safe transfer of bulk products-including chemicals-between railcars and tanker trucks. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on work, adapting to changing outdoor conditions, and taking personal responsibility for safe, precise work. Most work is performed during the day shift, Monday through Friday, but because train schedules can vary, occasional weekend work may be required.

What You Will Do

As a Transload Loader, your primary responsibility will be to ensure that products are moved safely and efficiently between railcars and tanker trucks. You will work with pumps, hoses, valves, and other mechanical components to control the flow of materials, making sure all equipment is properly set up, secured, and functioning before transfers begin. Your day may include tasks such as heating product, checking temperatures, sparging, sampling materials for quality checks, or preparing cars and trucks for transfer.

You will regularly climb ladders up to 20 feet, maneuver hoses, and work in all weather conditions-sun, rain, heat, cold, and everything in between. Many transfers require the use of full-body PPE, including chemical suits, gloves, respirators, and face protection. Accuracy and attention to detail are essential, as you will complete transfer logs, manifests, and inspection documentation that must be precise and compliant with regulations.

Above all, you will play a critical role in creating a safe working environment. Transloading is a safety-sensitive operation, and we rely on team members who follow procedures, stay alert, and take responsibility for themselves and the people around them.

Why Join Us?

Road & Rail Services offers stability, structure, and a strong focus on safety. You will receive:
• Competitive benefits, including medical, dental, and 401(k)
• Paid holidays and vacation time
• All required PPE provided at no cost
• An annual steel-toe boot allowance
• Clear opportunities to grow your skills and advance within the company
• A supportive culture that values teamwork, communication, and continual learning

Many of our supervisors, managers, and safety professionals began in roles just like this one. If you want a workplace where effort is recognized and advancement is possible, this is a great place to start.

Qualifications

We are looking for safety-conscious candidates who are dependable, willing to learn, and comfortable working in a physically demanding outdoor environment. A high school diploma or GED, a valid driver's license, and the ability to meet all company requirements-including safety training and PPE use-are required. Mechanical aptitude, experience in industrial or outdoor labor, and comfort following written and verbal instructions are highly valued.

If your qualifications align with the position, a company representative will reach out to discuss next steps.

If you're ready to join a dedicated team, work in an active rail and logistics environment, and build a long-term career with a company that invests in its people, we encourage you to apply today!
