
Transitions Coordinator (Specialist, Operations)
The Transition Coordinator (Operations Specialist) is part of a team that manages the onboarding and transition of more than 600 properties annually onto the Extra Space platform. This role plays a key part in coordinating the onboarding of newly acquired and managed self-storage assets, partnering closely with the Transitions Manager to develop, execute, and track the transition process. The Transition Coordinator works collaboratively with external partners and internal departments to proactively identify and resolve onboarding challenges from the business development stage through the successful handoff to Operations.
Duties & Responsibilities
• Oversee the transition for newly acquired and managed stores.
• Maintain excellent communication and customer service with internal Extra Space departments and external partners.
• Prioritize and manage partner and site requests related to transition-related issues
• Develop and implement a process to ensure completion of all tasks and analysis of site performance post-transition.
• Manage transition timelines, coordinate information with external and internal parties to ensure all onboarding tasks are completed prior to onboarding.
• Order supplies and equipment necessary for the new site and track it to make sure they are received timely.
• Represent Extra Space professionally to partners, employees, and vendors while maintaining accurate systems and process integrity.
• Requires the ability to drive a project to completion.
• Requires strong attention to detail, creativity in building processes, as well as maintaining relationships and representing company interests.
• It is critical for this position to think “outside the box” and creatively find alternative solutions to issues that arise.
Qualifications
• High School Diploma or GED equivalent. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Competencies
• Ability to effectively communicate, present information, and respond to questions from managers, clients, and customers using strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Thorough knowledge in Microsoft Office Suite, and other business systems, with the ability to utilize technology to improve efficiency, manage projects, and support cross-functional operations.
• Ability to challenge, think critically about existing processes, and proactively develop innovative solutions to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
• Demonstrable ability to organize work for multiple transitions and departments and prioritize effectively.
• Highly effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Process and detail oriented; problem solving attitude.
• Strong customer service skills and awareness.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
Performs sedentary work in an office environment with limited lifting (less than 10 pounds) or walking required. Close visual acuity required to perform work at computer terminal. No exposure to adverse environmental conditions. Requires repetitive typing motion, talking, hearing, grasping and feeling.
