In this position you will be responsible for:

  • Collaborating with the counselors to assist with Pre-Employment Transition Services specifically geared toward preparing transition students for work experiences.
  • Coordinating with the Business Development Specialist (BDS) to make new and existing employer contacts to secure work-based learning experiences, to include job shadowing, job tryout, internship, summer employment, school-based work experiences and other community-based evaluation opportunities for transition students.
  • Assisting in coaching and monitoring students participating in JRT services during the summer.
  • Preparing consumers to have an effective job search by providing instruction, personal and peer support, networking opportunities, and provision of employment resources.
  • Providing direct job placement and follow-up for all student consumers who require assistance.
  • Supporting students identified as requiring supported employment services by providing job coaching support services and supported employment services such as job matching, job analysis, intensive on-the-job training, social skills training, identification of natural supports, and follow up services including assisting in the identification of an extended service provider.
  • Providing on-going support during the transition of student's initial job adjustment and monitor progress regarding work performance and document consumer's adjustment.
  • Providing job coaching for applicants participating in Trial Work Experiences (TWE).

Examples of duties

  • Bachelor's degree in Vocational Evaluation, Rehabilitation Counseling, Technical or Adult Education, or Psychology, and two years of rehabilitation or related experience.
  • A high school diploma and related experience may substitute for the required bachelor's degree.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Vocational Evaluation, Rehabilitation Counseling, Technical or Adult Education, or Psychology.
