General Summary
As a Mixer Driver (Booster), you drive and operate a concrete mixer truck in delivering concrete as directed, checking concrete for quality before leaving the plant, and during the placement at the project site, and always maintaining courteous public and customer relations. Works under the direction of dispatchers, batch plant operators, and Concrete Division supervisors. Must have a CDL B License in good standing and a valid DOT medical certificate.
Minimum Requirements
• A CDL Class B license with driving experience. Preference given for experience driving a ready-mix truck. Must maintain a valid DOT medical card and acceptable driving record
• General education, grammar and arithmetic, GED or high school diploma or equivalent
• Basic knowledge of world events and acceptable interpersonal communication skills
• Must be self-motivated, team-player with excellent interpersonal skills; ability to maintain positive customer relations and act courteous and respectful toward others
• Must become a member of the ILWU Local 142
Preferred Requirements
• Valid Class B license with two years truck driving experience
• Knowledge of ready-mix properties
Duties and/or Responsibilities
• As a Driver, you will have the opportunity to:
• Receives a batched load of concrete materials from a batch plant or transfer unit, checks load for conformance with sales invoice on aggregate type and size, proper slump and load size and make delivery as directed.
• Checks size of load and determine correct hydraulic pressure setting on Booster Axle for proper load distribution and safety.
• Takes proper precaution in the operation of vehicle to compensate for the high center of gravity and use good judgment in determining speed and angle when encountering "X" terrain.
• Drives and operates a truck in a safe and responsible manner, observing all traffic codes and conform to established Federal and State regulations.
• Will collect cash on C.O.D. sales while following established procedures.
• Performs pre and post operational checks to include checking oil, water and fuel levels, check all light systems, braking system and tires to ensure safe equipment operation
• Reports any unsafe condition or any mechanical defect of his truck on a daily basis using the D.O.T. daily vehicle condition report.
• Responsible for the cleanliness and proper appearance of the truck and drum. Cleans out concrete buildup in drum when required.
• Assists mechanics or other tradesperson on emergency repairs.
• Must be able to lift a 40lb chute minimum 8 times a day. Employee must also be able to climb up and down the rear pedestal ladder 6 times per day.
