The individual will be expected to perform a variety of duties as a research associate in the Department of Entomology in coordination with the USDA-ARS Honey Bee Breeding, Genetics and Physiology Research Laboratory (HBBGPRL). These duties will include conducting field assessments in local and commercial beekeeping operations (local, regional and national travel); sampling honey bee colonies; conducting basic science laboratory techniques, such as established molecular biology techniques (e.g. DNA and RNA extractions, ecotoxicology assays); managing research honey bee colonies; and collecting and computerizing research data. Current projects would require the successful applicant to coordinate work as part of a team of extension technicians, field technicians, and researchers at the USDA-ARS HBBGPRL and beekeepers; and related units in joint tasks when deemed necessary.

The LSU AgCenter, is one of eight campuses within the broader LSU enterprise (LSU System).
