Your Roles & Responsibilities

As ABB Robotics embarks on its journey as a standalone global leader in automation, we are looking for experienced Project Managers to lead end-to-end payroll system implementation projects across multiple countries as well as local country discovery efforts for Payroll, Employee Life Cycle as well as Time and Attendance. The Project Manager will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and delivering payroll transformation initiatives while ensuring compliance, stakeholder alignment, and successful transition to operations. The role requires strong project management expertise, payroll process knowledge, vendor coordination experience, and the ability to manage cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment. This role will functionally report to Global Payroll Transformation Lead who will act as an overarching Program Manager.

This role is contributing to the ABB Robotics in Bangalore, India. It's a fixed-term contract. Based on business requirements, team growth, and role evolution, there may be an opportunity for conversion to a permanent position in the future.

You are mainly accountable for:
  • Lead payroll implementation projects from initiation through go-live and stabilization.
  • Lead local country discovery activities to support the team in understanding the current "As-Is" environment and defining "To-Be" processes.
  • Define project scope, objectives, timelines, milestones, and deliverables.
  • Develop and maintain detailed project plans, risk logs, and status reports.
  • Coordinate with HR, Finance, IT, payroll vendors, and business stakeholders.
  • Manage payroll system implementations, while coordinating closely with integration and data migration leads.
  • Ensure payroll processes comply with local labor laws, tax regulations, and company policies.
  • Facilitate workshops to gather business requirements and document functional specifications.
  • Oversee testing activities, including SIT, UAT, parallel payroll runs, and defect resolution.
  • Monitor project budgets, resources, and timelines to ensure successful delivery.
  • Identify project risks and implement appropriate mitigation strategies.
  • Manage communication with executive stakeholders and provide regular project updates.
  • Support change management, training, and the transition to business-as-usual operations.
  • Ensure post-implementation support and successful project closure.

Qualifications for the role

We are looking for a detail-oriented professional who thrives in "Day 1" environments and understands the nuances of a shared services landscape.

  • Bachelor's degree from a reputed university.
  • 5+ years of project management experience in payroll and/or HR transformation projects.
  • Proven experience managing payroll implementations within managed services environments.
  • Hands-on experience with Workday (mandatory).
  • Experience building Workday-to-Payroll integrations (mandatory).
  • Experience with Strada implementations (preferred).
  • Experience supporting divestment and separation programs (preferred).
  • Strong understanding of payroll operations and compliance requirements.
  • Experience working with cross-functional and global teams.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • High level of accountability, with a proactive and partnership-oriented mindset.
  • Strong attention to detail and execution discipline.
  • Fluent in English.
  • Flexible working hours to support global time zones.
  • Willingness to travel for workshops and key project milestones.
