Minimum Hiring Wage:

From $39.37 per hourScheduled Hours: 7:00pm - 7:30am, every other weekend

A Brief Overview

Facilitates the efficient transfer of patients between facilities. The Transfer Center Coordinator is a Registered Nurse (RN) responsible for coordinating the safe, timely, and efficient transfer of patients into, out, and within the healthcare system. This role serves as a central point of communication between referring facilities, physicians, nursing leadership, bed management, and ancillary departments to ensure appropriate placement of patients based on clinical needs, bed availability, and organizational capabilities. This role ensures compliance with regulations and maintains detailed records for quality assurance.

What you will do

  • Coordinate communication between transferring and receiving medical staff
  • Arrange required transportation and accommodations for patient transfer
  • Ensure compliance with state and federal transfer regulations
  • Maintain detailed records of all transfer activities for quality assurance
  • Monitor and evaluate transportation logistics and efficiency
  • Provide training to new staff members on transfer protocols

Qualifications:

Qualifications

  • Associate’s Degree (AA) Registered Nurse Required
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Arts/Sciences (BA/BS) Nursing or Healthcare Management Preferred
  • 1-3 years Experience in healthcare operations Preferred
  • 4-6 years Experience in patient transfer coordination Preferred
  • 4-6 years Experience in patient care Preferred
  • Communication and coordination across disciplines
  • EMTALA and patient transfer regulations
  • Hospital services, capacity, and level-of-care criteria
  • Clinical assessment and critical thinking
  • Prioritization and multitasking in a fast-paced environment
  • Accurate documentation and use of technology
  • Ability to make sound, clinical decisions without direct patient contact
  • Ability to manage high-stress, time-sensitive situations
  • Ability to interpret and synthesize clinical information
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Registered Nurse Iowa Board of Nursing (IBON) (United States of America) Upon Hire Required
  • Child Abuse Iowa Mandatory Reporter - Iowa Department of Human Services within 180 Days Required
  • Dependent Adult Abuse Mandatory Reporter - Iowa Department of Human Services within 180 Days Required
  • Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider - American Heart Association within 180 Days Required
