The Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) Technician provides direct patient support and administers Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation treatments for patients experiencing depression and other behavioral health conditions. Working closely with psychiatrists and behavioral health providers, this role is responsible for positioning patients for treatment, applying TMS therapy according to individualized treatment mapping and protocols, monitoring patient comfort and response before, during, and after treatment sessions, and documenting care within Epic. Additional responsibilities include administering psychiatric survey scales, writing progress notes, coordinating appointments, conducting patient outreach and follow-up communication, and providing compassionate support throughout the patient’s treatment journey. This role involves frequent patient interaction throughout the day, as many patients receive multiple treatment sessions daily.

A caregiver in this role will work 8:00am to 5:00pm with no weekends or holidays. This role will be stationed within the Mellon Building which will eventually be moved into the exciting and innovative brand new Neuro Building at CC Main Campus.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

  • Provide excellent patient care and treat patients with compassion.
  • Provide support, reflective listening, and compassion to patients struggling with depression and/or anxiety.
  • Administer TMS treatments according to specific prescribed protocols. Set up the TMS medical device and monitor all aspects of the treatment sessions for patient comfort and treatment accuracy.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues with coil contact and TMS system setup throughout treatment while maintaining patient comfort.
  • Administer psychiatric rating scales. Complete daily session progress notes.
  • Perform various tasks related to administration, patient care, and TMS treatment.
  • Monitor patient before, during and after treatment sessions.
  • Utilize strong, intuitive communication skills (verbal & written) with patients and staff.
  • Contribute to a positive work environment.
  • Act courteously and with tact in dealing with patients and caregivers at all times.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and HIPAA certification.
  • Follow established treatment protocols and office procedures and make a positive contribution to potential improvements.
  • Maintain a high degree of accuracy and professionalism regarding all the details of the job.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • English language
  • TMS certification (will be provided on the job)

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • Prior experience in a medical office, especially working with the patient population

Physical Requirements:

  • Manual dexterity to operate office equipment.
  • May require extended periods of standing, walking or sitting.
  • Good visual acuity through normal or corrected vision.
  • Light Work - Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly (Constantly: activity or condition exists 2/3 or more of the time) to move objects.
  • Even though the weight lifted may be only a negligible amount, a job should be rated Light Work: (1) when it requires walking or standing to a significant degree; or (2) when it requires sitting most of the time but entails pushing and/or pulling of arm or leg controls; and/or (3) when the job requires working at a production rate pace entailing the constant pushing and/or pulling of materials even though the weight of those materials is negligible.
