Job Description
Training Specialist – Orientation, Safety-Care & CPR
Full-Time | Randolph, MA
Help Prepare the People Who Change Lives Every Day
At May Institute, our employees support children and adults with autism, brain injury, developmental disabilities, and other neurobehavioral disorders across schools, homes, residential programs, day habilitation programs, and community-based services throughout Massachusetts.
We’re looking for an engaging, energetic, and mission-driven trainer who is passionate about teaching others, building confidence, and helping new employees feel prepared to make a real impact from day one.
In this role, you’ll lead New Hire Orientation, Safety-Care, and CPR/First Aid trainings for employees across the organization — from Direct Support Professionals and Teachers to Nurses, Clinicians, and Directors. Your classroom will be filled with people preparing to support individuals across all stages of life, from young children to older adults.
This is more than training. It’s preparing people for meaningful, life-changing work. Before they step into those roles, they start with you.
What You’ll Do
Lead engaging, interactive trainings: Facilitate Orientation, Safety-Care, and CPR/First Aid trainings in a way that keeps learners involved, supported, and excited to learn.
Help new employees connect to the mission: Introduce staff to the people we serve, the work we do, and the impact they’ll have every single day.
Prepare staff to support individuals safely and confidently: Teach hands-on safety techniques, coach learners through real-world scenarios, and help employees build the confidence they need before entering the field.
Create a welcoming and positive learning environment: We want someone who can make people feel comfortable asking questions, participating, practicing skills, and learning together.
Keep trainings organized and compliant: Track attendance, certifications, and training completion records to ensure employees stay current and prepared.
Be flexible and collaborative: This role is primarily based in Randolph, though there may occasionally be opportunities to support trainings at other Massachusetts locations such as Raynham, Revere, or Cape Cod if coverage is needed.
Support a wide variety of programs and services
The employees you train may go on to work in:
• Residential and group home settings
• Schools and classrooms
• Day habilitation programs
• Center-based services
• Home-based programs
• Adult services
• Children’s services
No two training groups are ever exactly the same — and that’s part of what makes this role exciting.
What We’re Looking For
• Someone who genuinely loves teaching and helping others grow
• Strong communication and classroom facilitation skills
• High energy, positivity, and adaptability
• Comfortable leading hands-on instruction and group activities
• Organized and dependable
• Ability to obtain and maintain Safety-Care and CPR/First Aid instructor certifications
Bonus Points For:
• Experience in human services, education, healthcare, behavioral health, or staff development
• Experience supporting individuals with autism, developmental disabilities, brain injury, or neurobehavioral disorders
• Previous training, coaching, or facilitation experience
• CPR, Safety-Care, or crisis intervention training experience
This Role Is Active & Hands-On
This is not a sit-behind-a-desk training role. You’ll spend your days facilitating classroom discussions, demonstrating techniques, coaching participants through hands-on activities, and creating an engaging learning environment.
Why This Role Matters
Every employee who walks through your classroom will go on to support someone’s child, sibling, family member, or loved one.
The confidence, knowledge, and encouragement you provide during training can directly shape the quality of care and support our individuals receive.
That’s a powerful opportunity — and an incredibly meaningful role to play.
What We Offer
• $60,000 annual salary
• Medical, dental, and vision insurance
• 403(b) retirement plan with employer match
• Generous paid time off and holidays
• Tuition reimbursement and student loan support after 1 year
• Paid certifications and professional development
• Employee Assistance Program and wellness resources
• A collaborative, mission-driven culture centered around growth, compassion, and impact
